Cause: built 1892 by wood, skinner & co., newcastle, with triple expansion engine of 71nhp, 1 boiler single shaft. machinery by n.e.m.e. co. ltd., sunderland. owned at time of loss by r. bisset. on passage rouen to hartlepool. sank following collision with ss generakl haverlock. 7 of 13 crew lost. LEAST E/S DEPTH 43.4 IN GEN DEPTH 47MTRS. NO SCOUR. DCS3 HT 3.5MTRS. LIES ROUGHLY 090/270DEG, WELL BROKEN UP AND COVERING AREA 50 X 12MTRS. HIGH POINT AT CENTRE. (LAND & MARINE, HI 414B). BR STD. HH100/351/13 17.3.98 IDENTIFIED AS 'HELENE'. IDENTIFIED FROM NAME ON BELL, MATCHED TO LLOYD'S DETAILS BY OVERALL SIZE AND ENGINE DETAILS. (A C JACKSON & C A RACEY, LTR DTD 12.3.98). 30.8.01 EUT POSN: 5439.908N, 0050.300W. NE 134. HH100/351/19 19.9.02 DIVED IN LISTED POSN. A COASTER WITH ENGINE MIDSHIPS. TWO BOILERS AND DONKEY BOILER JUST FWD OF STBD BOILER. FWD HOLDS FLAT. SMALL BOW BADLY BROKEN UP. WINCH AND STBD ANCHOR DEBRIS OFF TO PORT SIDE OF PORT BOILER. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THIS VESSEL SANK EARLIER THAT 1930 DUE TO THE STATE OF THE WK. (S OLD & B JOLLY, EMAIL DTD 18.9.02). NCA.
