Name: HEBBLE (PROBABLY)

Length 68.6 meter, width: 9.4 meter, draught: 4.6, tonnage 904 ton

Cause: built in 1891 by w dobson & co of newcastle upon tyne. owned at time of loss by the lancashire & yorkshire railway co. two boilers, triple expansion engine, single shaft. 181 hp. machinery built by wallsend slipway co of newcastle upon tyne. struck a mine laid by uc-32. on government service as an ammunition stores carrier and was carrying a full cargo at the time. of 16 crew, 5 died. vessel was on passage scapa flow to sunderland. LENGTH 16MTRS, WIDTH 11MTRS. LIES 000/180 DEGS. TWO SQUARE PIECES OF DEBRIS WITH MINOR, LOW RELIEF, DEBRIS TO THE EAST. (GARDLINE, HI 796). BR STD. HH10/351/15 24.9.99 THE BOILERS, ENGINE AND CONDENSERS STAND UPRIGHT BUT ARE CONCRETED TOGETHER AMID A MASS OF COPPER PIPES AND OTHER STEEL FRAMEWORK. THE WHOLE AREA OF WRECKAGE COVERS ONLY SOME 20MTRS IN DIAMETER. THE BOW SECTION WAS BLOWN OFF AND CANNOT LIE FAR FROM THE WK. (R YOUNG). NCA.
