Cause: built in 1891 by w dobson & co of newcastle upon tyne. owned at time of loss by the lancashire & yorkshire railway co. two boilers, triple expansion engine, single shaft. 181 hp. machinery built by wallsend slipway co of newcastle upon tyne. struck a mine laid by uc-32. on government service as an ammunition stores carrier and was carrying a full cargo at the time. of 16 crew, 5 died. vessel was on passage scapa flow to sunderland.
