H2137/54 21.7.70 NOW CHARTED AS SW 22MTRS. NC 1634. H2396/77 9.3.77 WK IN 501816N, 033023W [OGB] USING DECCA. LENGTH ABOUT 320FT BY SONAR. BEAM ABOUT 45FT. LYING ABOUT NW/SE, BOWS SE? RISE OVER 50FT FROM BOTTOM OF SCOUR. CLEARANCE BY E/S 93FT REDUCED IN GEN DEPTH 125FT. VERY DEEP SCOUR-AT LEAST 25FT. WK NOT COMPLETELY EXAMINED. SEEMS TO BE BROKEN 190FT FROM BOW. TWO HOLDS FORWARD. BRIDGE AND MACHINERY AMIDSHIPS (ENGINE SUGGESTS STEAM RECIPROCATING). ABAFT BRIDGE IS PART OF ANOTHER HOLD BEFORE THE SHIP WAS BADLY BROKEN. FORWARD HOLDS HAVE HARD FLAT SAND COVERED SURFACES ABOUT 2-3FT BELOW COMINGS. PLATING THROUGHOUT IS WELL ROTTED. BEING CLOSE TO DARTMOUTH AND COMPARATIVELY SHALLOW THIS WK IS WELL DIVED ON BY SUB-AQUA PEOPLE SOME OF WHOM THINK IT IS 'NEWHOLM'. SURVEYED USING SONAR, E/S AND DIVERS. (RISDON BEAZLEY MARINE, 10.2.77). NCA. 18.4.13 EXAM'D 7.1.13 IN 5018.308N, 0330.436W [WGD], LEAST M/B DEPTH 32.6 IN GEN DEPTH 40.1MTRS. LEAST W/C DEPTH 32.35MTRS. SCOUR 9MTRS DEEP EXTENDS TO 159MTRS TOWARDS 203 DEGS & 41MTRS TOWARDS 016 DEGS. IN ADDITION DEEP SCOUR SURROUNDS WK. LENGTH 112.5MTRS, WIDTH 17.3MTRS, HT 4MTRS. LIES 114/294 DEGS OVERALL WITH BOWS NW. IN TWO PARTS, LENGTHS 5.15MTRS & 49.9MTRS. (EMU, HI 1374). AMEND WK 32MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
