Cause: built in 1902 by the larne sb co, larne. registered in belfast. single boiler, compound engine, single shaft. aft machinery by c houston & co of glasgow. passage barry for falmouth. cargo bulk flour. engine became defective and vessel took water in poor weather. later took a heavy list and refused to steer. crew abandoned and were recovered.

NAME TAKEN FROM BELL. STANDS 17-21FT HIGH. WAS PROBABLY MINED OR TORPEDOED. HAD 2 HOLDS, BOTH EMPTY. WHEELHOUSE AND SUPERSTRUCTURE PARTLY COLLAPSED. MAST FALLEN. STERN INTACT BUT PROPELLER MISSING. NO SIGNS OF SALVAGE. NO SCOUR. LIES SE/NW AND IS WELL BURIED IN SEABED. (E GILES, 23.5.74). HH100/351/04 18.3.91 HH100/351/04 18.3.91 DIVED ON IN 502021N, 052548W [OGB] USING DECCA.
