Cause: vessel, built 1878 by w.b. thompson, dundee, with 2 cylinder compound engine & 2 boilers. owned at time of loss by james mitchell & sons. on passage from tyne for slemmestad. sank 0.75m from kirkabister lt, lerwick following a collision with ss 'glenelg'. glenisla was at anchor and glenelg was under tow having been torpedoed. all 23 crew rescued. (sibi & shipwrecks of n of scotland, baird).

AMEND TO WK 31MTRS.

WOODEN DECKING LARGELY ROTTED AWAY AS IS THE SUPERSTRUCTURE. HIGHEST POINT IS ENGINE & BOILERS. STEEL MAST & GUN LIES ON SEABED ON PORT SIDE OF WK. PIECES OF WHITE PHOSPHORUS LIE AROUND THE STERN.
