Cause: Built in 1882 by c mitchell & co ltd, newcastle-upon-tyne. owned at time of loss by j fawcett, newcastle-upon-tyne. one boiler, compound expansion engine of 180nhp, single shaft. passage newcastle-upon-tyne for genoa. sank following a collision with scottish barque 'benares', which also sank. (sibi).
