Cause: 25.3.41 built in 1923 by palmers' co. owned at time of loss by siemens bros & co. triple expansion engine of 530 nhp. bombed by german aircraft 25.3.41 and set on fire, drifted ashore, and sank the next day. passage falmouth for milford haven. nearly all submarine cable salved. sixteen men lost.

BR STD. 19.2.68 FURTHER DIVES REPORT THAT EXCEPT THE BOILERS, ENGINES, RIBS ETC THERE IS NOTHING HIGHER THAN 5FT FROM THE SEABED. THE BOILERS & ENGINES STAND SOME 15FT ON THE SEABED & THE WK IS WELL BROKEN UP. (R EDMONDS, TELECON 19.2.68). NCA. H3542/68 7.8.68 LARGE QUANTITIES OF WK ARE TO BE FOUND ON BOTH SIDES OF HOOPERS PT, MAJOR PART ON SOUTHERN SIDE OF HOOPERS PT. HIGHEST PART OF THE WK TO SEABED IS ABOUT 10FT. THE HEIGHT OF THE BULK OF WK TO SEABED IS ABOUT 3FT. MANY PERSONS HAVE USED EXPLOSIVES ON THE WK, THIS COUPLED WITH THE ACTION OF THE SEA HAS RESULTED IN THE WK BEING PULVERISED, EVEN THE ENGINE IS BROKEN UP OVER A LARGE AREA. THE SEABED IS OF LARGE BOULDERS. NO SCOUR EVIDENT. MANY TONS OF CABLE STILL LIE IN THE AREA IN PYRAMID SHAPED PIILES STANDING SOME 6FT HIGH. POSN OF WK GIVEN ON A TRACING TO FIT CHART 2878. (INDUSTRIAL U/W ENTERPRISES LTD REPORT DTD 29.7.68). CHART AS STP, LYING 142/322DEGS, IN 514240N, 051212W. BR STD. 30.4.76 AREA FLOWN BY HELICOPTER, RN. HECATE FLIGHT, WK NOT SEEN FROM THE AIR. (PRINT NUMBER 162 INDEX 117 DATE APRIL 1975 FOR HECATE'S 5/75 - REFER MS5 PHOTO 30.4.76). NCA. H1284/77/172 11.8.77 WK HAS NOW BEEN REDUCED TO ONE BOILER AND A COUPLE OF LARGE CABLE DRUMS. THE REST HAS EITHER BEEN RAISED OR IS BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE SEABED. (R. EDMONDS, LTR DTD 24.4.77). NCA. H3804/72 3.10.77 NOTHING FOUND WHEN AREA SOUNDED BY SMB. LOCAL SOURCES INDICATE ALMOST NOTHING LEFT OF WK. (HMS WOODLARK, ROS DTD 17.12.76). NCA. 19.3.82 DESCRIBED AS WELL SCATTERED IN DEPTHS 6-8MTRS. NON-FERROUS METALS STILL TO BE FOUND. (BSAC WK REGISTER, VOL 5). NCA. H1288/83/361 14.3.83 DIVED ON 1982. WELL SCATTERED AND FLATTENED WITH A PYRAMID OF CABLE COVERED WITH KELP. STANDS 2-5MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 7MTRS. (S HUMPHREY). NCA. HH100/351/10 9.11.95 WELL BROKEN UP AND SCATTERED. ONE LARGE CABLE DRUM 3.4MTRS HIGH FOUND. SEABED IS ROCKY GULLIES AND SAND. (R M JONES). NCA. HH100/351/12 10.10.96 NOW WELL SPREAD OUT AMONGST THE GULLIES IN THE AREA. COVERED IN KELP. AT LEAST 3 CABLE DRUMS REMAIN. (S J ROBERTS). NCA. 6.12.11 LOCATED 7.3.11 BY MAGNETOMETER ONLY.
