Length 96.9 meter, width: 13.8 meter, draught: 7.6, tonnage 2867 ton
Load: grain

Cause: built in 1889 by w h potter & sons and owned at the time of loss by palace shipping co., struck bishop rock ltho and sank whilst en route from tacoma to falmouth. 6 lives lost. (dods & shipwreck index of the british isles).

Details measurements/cartography: H2568/71 14.11.73 WRECK REPORTED BY MR COWANS DIVERS IN 495257N, 062545W [OGB]. HULL INTACT, ABOUT 15FT HIGH. THREE OF THE FOUR MASTS LYING ALONG SEABED AREA. THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED WITH E/S AND WRECK SHOWED CLEARLY IN FLAT BOTTOMED AREA. LEAST E/S DEPTH 35MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 40-41MTRS. (HMS HECATE, R-OF-S [K6742/1] APPENDIX 2, 16.7.73). CHART AS DWP 35MTRS. NE 34. H3227/74 6.6.74 WRECK OF SV, POSSIBLY 'FALKLAND', LOCATED USING MAGNETOMETER IN 495302N, 062517W USING DECCA. POSSIBLY THIS WRECK OR NEAR TO IT. ESTIMATED 2000 TONS, LIES SSE/NNW. PARTLY SILTED RIBS, MASS OF MASTS AND PLATING AND SEVERAL LARGE MASTS LYING AROUND AND HEAPS OF CHAIN WITH ANCHOR TO NW. (MR GILES, 15.5.74). NCA. 30.10.00 DATA RE-ASSESSED. AMEND TO WK 35.0MTRS. BR STD.
