Cause: ex- hebridean, iron ss, built 1881 by t.b. seath & co, rutherglen, glasgow, with 2 clyinder compound engine, 1 boiler. machinery by w king & co., glasgow. owned at time of loss by messrs cooper & son. on passage leith for kirkwall, cut in two & sank following collision with hms grenville off the pentland skerries. all 11 crew & 2 passengers lost.
