HH090/915/01 11.1.02 EXAM'D 21.4.01 IN 5550.107N, 0148.601W [WGD] USING DGPS. LEAST E/S DEPTH 60.1 IN GEN DEPTH 67MTRS. NO SCOUR. LENGTH 45MTRS, WIDTH 9MTRS. DCS3 HT 6.4MTRS. LIES 154/334 DEGS. POOR MAGNETIC ANOMALY. INTACT, UPRIGHT. GOOD SHADOW. PROBABLE SUBMARINE. (GARDLINE, HI 915). AMEND POSN. BR STD. HH100/351/20 8.9.03 CONSIDERED TO BE AN 'A' CLASS BOAT LOST ON THE WAY TO THE SCRAP YARD WHEN SHE SANK. THE HOLE IN THE TOP MAY BE THE RESULT OF A BATTERY EXPLOSION, BUT THIS IS JUST SPECULATION. BOAT IS NOT GERMAN AND MOST PROBABLY BRITISH, HOWEVER NO SUBS WERE LOST IN THIS AREA THAT HAVE NOT BEEN ACCOUNTED FOR. SIZE AND SHAPE ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THE 'A' CLASS AS THEY HAD BRASS CONNING TOWERS AND A DEADLIGHT NEXT TO THE CT HATCH. (R YOUNG, EMAIL DTD 27.8.03). NCA.
