Cause: ex-leander. built in 1925 by atlas werke ag, bremen. owned at time of loss by york house shipping, middlesbrough. had been a german vessel captured in an allied port at the commencement of ww2. passage seaham for devonport. cargo coal. bombed by german aircraft, badly damaged and on fire. capsized after being abandoned. four men lost.
