Cause: ex- hannington court, built 1912. was formerly italian 'elios'. taken as a prize of war by ministry of war transport & managed by cairns, noble & co. vessel was torpedoed & sunk by u 99 when she straggled from convoy, sc7, w of the hebrides, whilst en-route montreal to tyne & leith. cargo included 750 tons copper, 129 tons ferro alloys, & 980 tons steel.
