MIXED CARGO, MAINLY CLAY PIPES BUT SMALL PART OF THE CARGO IN FWD HOLD WAS MADE UP OF COPPER INGOTS SHAPED LIKE PAVING SLABS. STEERING ENGINE BLOCK LOCATED JUST BEHIND FORCASTLE SUGGESTS THAT THE BRIDGE WAS MIDSHIPS. IDENTITY CONFIRMED BY A PIECE OF CROCKERY BEARING THE SHIPPING CO FLAG AND THE LETTERS 'TSSC' (TYNE SS CO). LEAST M/B DEPTH 41.13MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 46MTRS, LENGTH 74.0MTRS, WIDTH 8.2MTRS, HEIGHT 5.0MTRS, ORIENTATION 155/335 DEGS. WRECK APPEARS TO BE UPRIGHT AND INTACT BUT IS SEVERELY DISINTEGRATED. THE STERN IS THE MOST PROMINENT FEATURE, CONSISTING OF TWO BOILERS AND A LARGE AFT ENGINE BLOCK. (MMT, HI 1491). AMEND NDW 41MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
