Cause: Built in 1873 by barrow ship building co ltd, barrow-in-furness. owned at time of loss by the eastern ss co ltd. three boilers, compound expansion engine of 500nhp, single shaft. passage from antwerp for india. cargo included 600 tons china & glassware & 2533 tons iron & machinery. was struck amidships by barque 'vandalia' (1420 gt) & foundered with loss of entire crew. (sibi & dive sussex).
