Cause: 12.1.1909 ex-hms bonetta. built of iron in 1871 by j & g rennie, greenwich. built as an rn gunboat of the 'ant' class, sold out of service in 12.1.1909 and converted to salvage ship. owned at time of loss ne salvage and shipbreaking co ltd. one boiler, horizontal compound expansion engine of 100nhp, single shaft. passage whitby for ramsgate. while under tow of a tug, this salvage vessel developed a severe leak in heavy weather and foundered. one lifeboatman was lost. (sibi).

LEAST E/S DEPTH 47 IN GEN DEPTH 49MTRS. NO SCOUR. DCS3 HT 3MTRS. LIES 115/295 DEGS. WELL BROKEN AND DECAYED. COVERS 30 X 7MTRS. (LAND & MARINE, HI 414B). BR STD. 20.2.07 THIS IS THE DISPERSER. (R YOUNG, EMAIL DTD 18.2.07). NCA. SEP 2017/000002822 8.5.17 EXAM'D 13.12.16 IN 5434.019N, 0032.180W [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 45.79MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 49MTRS, LENGTH 26.5MTRS, WIDTH 7.3MTRS, HEIGHT 3.4MTRS, ORIENTATION 115/295 DEGS. WRECK APPEARS TO BE UPRIGHT AND INTACT BUT IS VERY DECAYED TO THE AFT. THE BOW IS VERY PROMINENT, AS IS A SINGLE BOILER WHICH IS LOCATED MIDSHIP BUT HAS BEEN DISPLACED. (MMT, HI 1491). AMEND NDW 45MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
