Cause: ex-william beatty '17. built new for admiralty and sold to fishing industry in 1921. built by smith's dock co ltd, middlesbrough. owned at time of loss by boston deep sea fish and ice co ltd. passage fleetwood for fishing grounds. one boiler, triple expansion engine, single shaft. captured & sunk by gunfire from u-41. 6 men lost. (ww2sl, llww2, axis submarine successes & sibi).
