Cause: built in 188 by w grey & co, west hartlepool. owned at time of loss by london & northern ss co (pyman bros, manager). two boilers, triple expansion engine of 240nhp for 9 knots, single shaft. passage the tyne for pozzuoli. cargo of gun mountings, machinery, steel billets, lead ingots and general. distress signals seen off hartlepool during the night of 12/13 october with a full hurricane blowing. wreckage and some bodies washed ashore over the following few days.
