Cause: Vessel, built 1911 by lorient dy, was in portsmouth when france surrendered in 1940. vessel was returned to fnfl for use as breakwater during the allied invasion of normandy. (french warships of ww2; french navy, vol 1 [photo]). scuttled to make part of artificial breakwater. (french wk records).
