Cause: ex-author. built in 1880 by c mitchell & co, newcastle-upon-tyne. owned at time of loss by j h goodyear, liverpool. single boiler, compound expansion engine of 184 hp, single screw. machinery by wallsend slipway co, newcastle-upon-tyne. passage danzig for liverpool. cargo railway sleepers. stranded and lost in fog and calm conditions on the nw corner of stroma. capsized after the crew had abandoned.
