Cause: ex- tr 4. built in 1917 by port arthur shipbuilding co, port arthur, ontario. owned at time of loss by the boston deep sea fishing & ice co. one boiler, triple expansion engine of 62nhp, single shaft. passage fleetwood for rio de janeiro. previously registered in fleetwood prior to sale to a brazilian owner. sailed for america in a westerly gale and was never seen again. posted missing at lloyd's with all hands, one of her lifeboats was recovered off llandudno, n wales. (sibi). built in canada in 1917 and then laid up in inverness until 1926. sold to a fishing company who then sold her to the brazilian government. following a refit in ostend sailed fleetwood and was not seen again. WK HAS A RAISED FO'C'S'LE AND LIES WITH A SLIGHT LIST PORT. RUDDER IS OVER TO STBD. HULL APPEARS TO BE INTACT, ALTHOUGHT THERE DOES APPEAR TO BE DAMAGE TO THE STEM. MASTS AND FUNNEL ARE MISSING AND THE BULWHARKS HAVE CORRODED AWAY IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS. THERE ARE ALSO AREAS OF THE DECK MISSING. WHEELHOUSE HAS LARGELY GONE, BUT THE DECKHOUSE ON WHICH IT STOOD TOGETHER WITH THE ENGINE CASING AND GALLEY ARE PRESENT. THE BOILER IS VISIBLE THROUGH THE HOLE WHERE THE FUNNEL WOULD HAVE BEEN. THERE IS A LARGE WINCH IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE WHEELHOUSE AND FOUR SETS OF GALLOWS ON THE PORT SIDE HAVE BEEN DAMAGED AND ARE BENT OVER. BOTH ANCHORS ARE STILL IN PLACE ON THE BOW, TOGETHER WITH ASSOCIATED FAIRLEADS AND HAWSE PIPES. THERE IS A PROMINENT BREAKWATER ON THE FO'C'S'LE DECK. PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE 'TR' SERIES UNDER CONSTRUCTION SHOW NUMEROUS SIMILARITIES. THIS, WITH THE BELL, CONFIRM THE IDENTITY. BELL IS HELD BY THE MARITIME FORCES COMMAND MUSEUM, HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA.
