Cause: built in 1928 by blythswood shipbuilding co, glasgow. owned at time of loss by british empire steam navigation co. 8 cylinder oil engine of 653bhp, single shaft. machinery aft. was carrying out trials following repairs at falmouth & detonated a magnetic mine. tow attempt failed when vessel broke up, stern section sinking first before forward part capsized & sank. (ww2sl & sibi).
