(HMS MERMAID, 30.3.66). CHART AS WK 27FMS (49MTRS). BR STD. H3193/70 15.6.73 SMALL WK LYING E/W WITH HIGHEST PART TO E & ABOUT 25FT HIGH THE REST ABOUT 18FT. (WILLIAMS, 25.4.73). H3110/72 27.11.73 LOCATED IN 501202.4N, 044318.0W [OGB] USING HIFIX [2 LOP]. LEAST E/S DEPT 48.0 IN GEN DEPTH 56.0MTRS. SEABED MUD, SAND, GRAVEL & BROKEN SHELL. (HMS HECATE, 1973). AMEND TO WK 48MTRS. H1280/76/31 26.3.76 FISHERMENS FASTENER IN 501211N, 044322W USING DECCA. (LTR DTD 29.1.76). NCA. 3.9.07 DIVED IN 5012.040N, 0443.300W [WGD]. A WELL BROKEN WK. TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE AND SINGLE BOILER. ENGINE HAS GAUGES AND REVERSING WHEEL ON THE STBD SIDE. SHAFT TUNNEL LEADS AFT TO A NEAR INTACT AND UPRIGHT STERN. PART OF THE WK FWD OF THE BOILER LIES ON ITS STBD SIDE. BOW AREA IS COMPLETELY BROKEN DOWN. A LAMP HAS BEEN RECOVERED MARKED 'STYRBORD' SUGGESTING A SCANDANAVIAN CONNECTION. UNLIKELY TO BE 'BUTETOWN'. (N R CHIPCHASE). 20.11.07 HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS CARULUS BY THE BELL. (N R CHIPCHASE). NCA. SEP 2014/000153151 17.9.14 EXAM'D 20.7.14 IN 5012.056N, 0443.388W [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 48.99 IN GEN DEPTH 56.1MTRS. NO SCOUR. LENGTH 71.2MTRS, WIDTH 17.1MTRS, HT 7.15MTRS. LIES 063/243 DEGS. STRONG MAGNETIC ANOMALY. INTACT, UPRIGHT ALTHOUGH THE CENRE AND AFTER SECTIONS APPEAR TO HAVE COLLAPSED. (MMT, HI 1455). BOWS NE. RETAIN WK 48MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
