Cause: built in 1903 by j l thompson & sons ltd, sunderland. owned at time of loss by well line ltd. three boilers, triple expansion engine of 409nhp, single shaft. passage the tees & london for calcutta. general cargo. struck mine laid by uc-36. seven men lost. (lloyds war losses & sibi).

IN GEN DEPTH 32MTRS. STANDS APPROX 8MTRS HIGH AT STERN AND BOW WITH CENTRE SECTION BROKEN UP. (M PRITCHARD, 3.1.86). INS AS WK 18MTRS. BR STD. HH100/351/08 10.12.93 IDENTIFIED AS THE CAMBERWELL. WRECK AND CARGO OWNED BY OFFSHORE MARINE SERVICES LTD. COMMERCIAL GUARD REQUESTED. (M WOODWARD, 3.12.93). 25.2.99 CINC DELETED. MORE THAN FIVE YEARS. HH090/962/01 3.12.02 LOCATED IN 5035.507N, 0103.189E [WGD] USING DGPS. E/S GIVES APPARENT HT OF 4MTRS. LEAST DEPTH NOT OBTAINED. SCOUR APPROX 1MTR DEEP. NOT INVESTIGATED WITH DCS3. LIES WITHIN AREA NOT FULLY SURVEYED DUE TO FISHING GEAR. (GARDLINE, HI 962). RETAIN AS WK 18MTRS IN REVISED POSN. BR STD. SEP 2016/000165703 14.11.16 EXAM'D 14.11.16 IN 5035.524N, 0103.205W [WGD]. LEAST M\B DEPTH 21.09MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 27MTRS. LENGTH 122MTRS, WIDTH 39MTRS, HT 6.4MTRS,ORIENTATION 319/139 DEGS. SUBSTANTIALLY BROKEN UP WITH FEW COLLAPSED HULL PLATES. SHALLOW-MOST POINT IS NEAR THE BOW. REMAINS OF THREE BOILERS ARE VISIBLE NEAR THE CENTRE OF THE WRECK. SCOUR 150MTRS, 1.7MTRS DEEP TOWARDS 065 DEGS. (MMT UK, HI 1499).
