Name: BURNHOPE (PART OF)

Length 82.9 meter, width: 12.2 meter, draught: 5.5, tonnage 1941 ton
Load: coal

Cause: built in 1907 by wood, skinner & co ltd, newcastle-upon-tyne. owned at time of loss by burnett ss co. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 200hp, single shaft. passage hartlepool for london. mined. crew recovered, but master died of heart attack after being rescued. (llww1 & sibi).

- NM 1319/26. H6100/28 17.9.29 WRECKAGE DISCOVERED, DISPERSED TO 6FMS. PARTS EMBEDDED IN SAND. BELOW 6FMS THE SAND HAS BEEN SCOURED AWAY AROUND ABOUT THE WRECKAGE TO VARYING DEPTHS BELOW 6FMS SO THAT SOME OF THE WRECKAGE STANDS UP ABOVE SAND LEVEL BUT BELOW 6FMS. POSN 544057N, 010851W. (PORT OF HARBOUR COMMISSION, HARTLEPOOL, 17.8.29).

H3768/83 6.11.84 SHOWN TO BE IN POSN 133DEGS, 2238MTRS FROM HEUGH LTHO ON TEES & HARTLEPOOL PA SURVEY [K 9124/1 (2)]. PLOTS IN 544058N, 010857W [OGB]. BR STD. 15.3.19 3 UPRIGHT CIRCULAR SHAPED VESSELS BURIED IN SAND, WRECKAGE VISIBLE 3MTRS DIAMETER BY 1MTR HIGH. IN A LINE SPACED APPROX 4MTRS APART, NO OTHER WRECKAGE FOUND. (DAVE APTTERSON, DIVED 2018). - NFA. SEP 2018/000017129 30.5.18 EXAM'D 11.01.18; WK LOCATED IN 5440.962N, 0109.061W [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 10.41MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 11MTRS. LENGTH 40.5MTRS, WIDTH 13MTRS, HEIGHT 1.7MTRS, ORIENTATION 140/320 DEGS. WK WELL DISPERSED. (CLINTON MARINE SURVEY, HI 1543). AMEND DW 10.4MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
