Cause: built in 1930 by ardrossan dockyard ltd, ardrossan. owned at time of loss by nisbet shipping co ltd, glasgow. four boilers, triple expansion engine of 257nhp, single shaft. passage mellili, italy for workington. badly damaged in collision with hmcs orkney whilst in convoy. later beached. salvage considered impossible, & vessel written off.

POOP AWASH, FORECASTLE TOP RAIL AWASH. SHELL PLATING ON STBD SIDE FROM FIDDLEY TO UNDER BRIDGE GONE. UPPER DECK IN WAY OF NO 3 HATCH GONE. BRIDGE HOUSES PARTLY GONE, APPARENTLY SEA DAMAGE. DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE GOING DOWN AMIDSHIPS. VISITED MAY'46, VESSEL HAS SETTLED FURTHER AT THE ENDS AND SEA DAMAGE AMIDSHIPS CONSIDERABLY MORE EXTENSIVE PARTICULARLY IN WAY OF ENGINE ROOM.
