Cause: built in 1918 by skinner & eddy corp. owned at time of loss by ministry of shipping (cairn line of steamships). turbine engine of 508nhp for 10.5 knots. passage halifax for newport in convoy. developed engine trouble & straggled from convoy when funnel caught fire. torpedoed by u-96. 25 men lost. (dods & axis submaribne successes).
