Cause: vessel, built in 1972 by a. & c. de la manche, dieppe, was secured alongside russian vessel 'antartika' off falmouth. either slipped of broke adrift in severe weather conditions and drifted on to rocks at maenporth where it later capsized. (ll & shipwreck index of the british isles).

HEAVY STEEL WIRE CABLES, WHICH WILL BE SUBMERGED AT CERTAIN STATES OF TIDE, RIGGED BETWEEN WK AND BLOCKHOUSE IN NW CORNER OF MAENPORTH BEACH. (FALMOUTH HBR COMMISSIONERS NM 4/80).
