Cause: owned by thomas w harvey of portsmouth. proabale compound expansion engine, 15 nhp, single shaft. passage jersey for portsmouth. cargo 90 tons of coal tar. fired at by surfaced ub 18. crew abandoned and bombs placed aboard, which failed to sink the ship. five live shells fired into the hull and the vessel sank. crew recovered by ss 'halfean'.

HH090/588/01 3.11.93 WK EXAM'D IN 500526.2N, 014850.6W [WGD] USING HYPERFIX. LEAST E/S DEPTH 56.5 IN GEN DEPTH 60MTRS. SMALL WK IN SHALLOW SCOUR AND LYING APPROX 080/260DEGS. MAGNETIC ANOMALY. (NP 1008, HI 588). BR STD. HH090/588/01 27.6.94 SCOUR DEPTH 0.1MTRS, DCS3 HT 2.6MTRS. LENGTH 25MTRS, BREADTH 4MTRS, LIES 085/265DEGS. (NP 1008, HI 588). NFA. 17.11.98 [EUR] POSN: 500529.5N, 014845.5W. NC 2613. HH100/351/19 24.10.02 DIVED IN LISTED POSN. THE WK OF VERY SMALL SS WITH A COMPOUND EXPANSION ENGINE. STERN INTACT WITH THE PROPELLER IN SITU.
