Cause: built in 1929 by r duncan & co, port glasgow. owned at time of loss by the united molasses co ltd. twin bronze propellers powered by aft positioned 12 cylinder oil engine of 709 hp built by j r kinkaid & co ltd. torpedoed in port quarter whilst in convoy f584 when attacked by u1274. of crew of 51, one was lost. cargo 12000 tons molasses. she remained afloat for some time before she finally sank. broke in two after impacting on the seabed. (r young).

BULK OF WK CONSISTS OF STEEL HULL WITH DECKING AND MANY METRES OF LARGE STEEL PIPES. TRAWL NETS ARE DRAPED OVER THE WK. (R YOUNG, LTR DTD 14.9.99).
