Cause: ex-columbian. built in 1898 by caird & co ltd, greenock. owned at time of loss by f leyland & co ltd. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 555 nhp, single shaft. passage new orleans for liverpool. (sii). wrecked on stag rocks. 1 man lost. (shipwrecks of the irsh coast).

Details measurements/cartography: H3542/68 5.5.70 IDENTIFIED AS WK OF 'ASIAN'. LIES CONCENTRATED IN A GULLEY ON S SIDE OF THE GROUP OF ISLANDS CALLED THE STAGS. WRECKAGE COMPRESSED OVER LAST 46 YEARS BY PREVAILING SW SWELL. GULLEY ABOUT 90YDS LONG AND 50FT WIDE AT WIDEST POINT. HIGHEST PART OF WK STANDS ABOUT 12FT HIGH IN GEN DEPTH 18FT AND CONSISTS OF ENGINE AND GEARING. (R EDMONDS, MAR 1970). INS AS WK 1FM IN 512755N, 091336W [OSI]. BR STD. H1282/72 7.2.72 IDENTIFIED BY LOCAL KNOWLEDGE. THE ONLY STEEL SHIP WRECKED ON STAGS. ROCKS NEARBY ARE SHOALER THAN WK. NO SIGN OF CARGO. POSN 512759N, 091332W. (E GILES, UNDERMARINE OPS LTD, 3.2.72). NCA. 4.9.75 AMEND TO WK 1.8MTRS. NC 2129. H1311/88 30.11.88 LIES WELL BROKEN IN ABOUT 20MTRS IN THE ENTRANCE TO THE GULLEY BETWEEN THE ROCKS ON THE S SIDE. (E BOURKE). NCA.
