Cause: built in 1873 by nordd. schiff ag, kiel. owned at time of loss by dampskibsselskabet. two boilers, compound expansion engine of 125 nhp, single shaft. passage cardiff for kronshtadt. struck the vynecks in thick fog and commended to fill. abandoned and sank. two men lost. (sibi).

Details measurements/cartography: H1310/83/9 2.2.83 H1310/83/9 2.2.83 LIES AT BOTTOM OF SHEER U/WATER CLIFF WITH BOW TOUCHING THE VYNECK AND STERN TO THE NNE. STEEL PROPELLORS AND SHAFTS CAN BE CLEARLY SEEN AS WELL AS MUCH MORE WKGE. A DANISH ENGINE-ROOM PLAQUE WAS FOUND CONFIRMING THIS AS THE ASIA. (A. JENNIONS, 18.1.83). POSN 500751N, 054254W [OGB] FOR FILING ONLY. 2.2.11 2.2.11 LIES IN 5007.890N, 0452.910W [WGD] JAMMED HARD UP AGIANST THE SHEER CLIFF FACE OF VYNECK ROCK. WRECKAGE IS SCATTERED AMONGS THE ROCKS. ENGINE AND ATTACHED DRIVE SHAFT ARE THE MOST RECOGNISABLE PARTS. LESS OF A HAZARD TO NAVIGATION THAN THE VYNECK ROCK. (G J LOCKETT). BA 1148 STS TO SHOW. FOR FILING ONLY. NCA. 13.12.11 13.12.11 NOT LOCATED 15.11.10 USING M/B AND MAGNETOMETER. (FUGRO OSAE, HI 1157). NCA.
