Cause: built in 1900 by caledon shipbuilding & engineering co ltd, dundee. owned at the time of loss by elder dempster lines. quadruple expansion engines, twin shaft. passage newport for le havre. torpedoed by uc-17. immediately broke in two and sank. 16 men lost. (sibi).
