Cause: built in 1924 by workman clarke & co. owned at time of loss by court line. triple expansion engines of 414nhp for 11 knots. was torpedoed by german submarine in the atlantic, whilst en route from rosario to hull with cargo of 7340tons of maize. vessel was struck by two torpedoes first wrecking the wireless & second not being discharged until after crew had taken to boats. vessel sank within 30mins. 22 crew were picked up by dutch ss 'alengib', 6 others were rescued 6 days later by norwegian vessel. (dods & ll ww2).
