Cause: vessel, built 1974 by astilleros espanoles, s.a., cadiz. owned at time of loss by amoco transport co. on passage from kharg is. for europort. had engine failure during bad weather while off ushant. taken in tow but wire parted & she was blown ashore where she broke in two, just for'd of the bridge. crew of 46 safe. this wk caused huge pollution to the french coast, resulting in massive damage payout by the owners.
