Cause: Built in 1908 by w j yarwood & sons , northwich. owned at time of loss by the northwich carrying co ltd. one boiler, compound expansion engine of 46nhp, single shaft. passage le have for littlehampton. captured by german submarine and sunk by bombs. (ww1sl & sibi). sunk with the ss 'alert'. (naval staff monographs vol.17).
