(MRCC FALMOUTH, FAX DTD 8.3.97). INS AS WK 80MTRS. BR STD. 20.3.97 WK CONFIRMED AS 'ALBION TWO' AFTER EXAMINATION BY ROV. LIES IN 129MTRS BROKEN AT LEAST IN TWO. ONE PART LIES 100MTRS AWAY FROM THE REST. NAME AND PORT OF ORIGIN FILMED BY THE ROV. ASSUMING THE VESSEL HAD BROKEN UP, WAS EITHER THE VICTIM OF AN EXPLOSION OR STRUCTURAL FAILURE. (LL, 18.3.97). - NM 1991/97. 4.5.99 VESSEL WAS LOST AFTER A CATOSTROPHIC COLLAPSE OF THE VESSEL'S STRUCTURE DUE TO MASSIVE CORROSION. CONSIDERED TO BE DUE TO FAILURE TO MAINTAIN AND REPAIR ADEQUATELY THE CORRODING STRUCTURE. MINIMUM AMOUNT OF STEEL RENEWAL DONE BASED ON A MINIMUM OF MEASUREMENTS OF THE MAIN STRUCTURE. THUS THE HEAVY WEATHER ENCOUNTERED TRIGGERED A MAJOR STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE AND CAUSED THE VESSEL TO SINK IN SECONDS WITHOUT EVEN A MAYDAY.
