Cause: built in 1870 by t royden & sons, liverpool. owned at time of loss by bibby line, liverpool. two boilers, compound inverted engine of 170nhp, single shaft. passage liverpool for genoa & leghorn. sank following collision with wooden barque nydia (9834 tons, built 1853) in clear weather. albanian maintained course with nydia close to the wind and was struck by nydia port side, aft of the bridge. third officer penny was held to be wholly responsible for the collision through holding course.
