The city of Sneek is known as the water sports center of Fryslân. There are no fewer than 13 marinas and 130 water sports companies. In the summer months, around 150,000 water lovers come to the city, for the Sneekweek, Europe's largest sailing event on inland water. Various waterways, such as the Swette, Geau, Houkesleat and the Frjentsjerter Feart Connect Sneek with the rest of Fryslân.
