Over the centuries, the Haven Hoort has played a major role in the character and development of the city. Once the port was the starting point of the ships of the Mighty V.O.C., later the fishing fleet found a home port there and nowadays the Haven Hoort is a popular stopping place for water sports enthusiasts. If you inland Horn you will see the characteristic and monumental main tower on the wooden head. When you pass the lock to the right of the main tower, you will end up in the Binnenhaven. The harbor master sits in the port office at the entrance of the harbor.
